About Dr Belinda Chan
Dr Belinda Chan is a qualified Breast and General Surgeon, dedicated to providing the highest quality of patient care. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled specialists to tailor the management plan of each individual patient. This includes expert advice from radiologists, pathologists, plastic reconstructive surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, breast care nurses, breast physicians, allied health professionals and researchers. Dr Chan is able to speak Cantonese and basic Mandarin.

Education And Training
Dr Chan was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2002, following completion of a Bachelor degree in Medical Science. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2010. She completed her Masters of Surgery by Research at the University of Sydney in 2013, investigating the genetic mutations in breast Phyllodes tumours.
Dr Chan completed her Advanced Surgical training throughout Australia, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Concord Repatriation and General Hospital, The Canberra Hospital, Orange Base Hospital, and Alice Springs Hospital. She was also appointed as Clinical Surgical Superintendent at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for two years.
Her international experience includes specialist post-Fellowship training in Breast Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Singapore. She also visited the famous L’Institut du Sein in Paris, France, with a focus on oncoplastic breast surgery techniques. Other international experience in specialist breast surgery includes attendance at the European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy, and the European Society of Surgical Oncology, Valencia, Spain.
Dr Chan was mentored by and then worked closely with Prof David Gillett, who founded the former Strathfield Breast Centre over 30 years ago. Since his retirement in 2017 she has grown the practice to become an extensive and comprehensive breast health clinic, caring for thousands of women across Sydney and beyond.
Clinical Appointments
Dr Chan is currently accredited and appointed at Strathfield Private Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital, The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Camperdown and Breastscreen NSW at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
She is the Surgical Supervisor for the Surgical Education and Training (SET) Registrar, and Supervisor for the Resident Medical Office at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. She is also a Faculty Member and Lecturer at the Australian School of Medical Imaging (ASMI) in Breast Ultrasound.
