Retreats at Naganaga during 2008

Dear friends,

We are running three retreats you might be interested in 2008 at Naganaga, details are below. So come on retreat with us and enjoy our wonderful yurt shrine room!

The Web of Life (mixed)

Thursday 17 April 10am to Sunday 20 April 4pm.

Led by Satyagandhi.

A retreat based on the work of Joanna Macy a Dharma teacher extraordinaire. Her work explores our interconnectedness with the world we live in and helps us to see our place in this web of life. This seeing brings about a response of compassion and a desire to act to heal both ourslves and our world. The retreat will offer workshops introducing Macy’s key teachings along with meditation and reflection practices to create the space we need to absorb the material. Cost $180 full price $140 concession. Please note: We are happy for participants to arrive Wednesday and/or leave Monday and we will meet/deliver to trains on those days.

Thus I Have Heard (for women mitras)

Thursday 26th June 5pm to Saturday 5th July 4pm

Led by Nagasuri supported by Satyagandhi

A retreat that will focus on material from the mitra study course exploring extracts from the Pali Canon. We will study six suttas with some time to present projects at the end. This retreat is limited to 8 participants. Cost $360 full price, $250 concession. Please note: We will meet trains on Thursday 26th and are happy for participants to stay over and travel on the Sunday morning train on 6th July.

Satipatthana: the direct path to realisation (for women)

Saturday 11th October 4pm to Saturday 18th October 4pm.

Led by Megha

A meditation retreat that will explore this key teaching on the four foundations of mindfulness by the Buddha. This retreat is limited to 8 participants. Cost $280 full price, $200 concession. Please note: We will meet trains on Saturday 11th and are happy for participants to stay over and travel on the Sunday morning train on 19th October.

We are gradually improving Naganaga and making it more comfortable for numbers of us to gather here. If you have been here before, come back and see the changes we have made. If you have not been here before, then do think about visiting us here on the mountain of the water dragon dreaming.

Getting here - we are 6 hours drive from Sydney, 45 minutes from Kempsey. There are trains and buses to Kempsey from Sydney and Brisbane, or you can fly to Port Macquarie and then bus to Kempsey. We will pick you up from Kempsey but please talk to us about timing before you finalise your travel plans as connections can be tricky.

If you would like to know more about these retreats or doing a solitary here or visiting Naganaga generally contact Satyagandhi or Megha (satyagandhi@optusnet.com.au or dhmegha@optusnet.com.au) or call us on 02 65671416.

all best wishes

Satyagandhi and Megha

FWBO Women's Vihara at Naganaga

A parcel of land has been purchased for the purpose of establishing an FWBO women's vihara in Australia. It will be a place for deepening meditation practice and dharma study. The first long retreat for Dharmacarini's was held there this year.

The main house on the property was fortunately spared when recent bushfires raced through the area although water tanks and out buildings were lost.

by recent bushfires to the surrounding bush.
